Kyuin PS1 Review

Kyuin PS1 title
Kyuin is a 2D arcade shoot-em-up that was released for the PlayStation in Japan only back in 1996 and this is a very kind of obscure but very unique 2D style of arcade shooter.

It uses a very similar premise to the likes of the Gradius and even R-type games as it is a side-scroller shooter where you move on the screen from like left to right in a scrolling kind of element with waves of enemies coming into the screen at different intervals to try and take you out of the equation whilst you also have bosses at the end of each level that you have to confront and take out.

So this is a very obscure game, to say the least as it takes a lot of elements from the likes of those games that I mentioned but it puts more of a fantasy kind of more magical kind of vibe to it.

As the premise of this game is that two young kids a brother and a sister are reading a book. Somehow they're magically transported into some sort of fictional world.

Your goal then is to go through the entirety of the game completing various objectives and taking out enemies in different bosses throughout each level so that you can eventually complete the game and get back to your normal life.

So that's basically what I've been able to find regarding the information that I managed to get hold of online that you can find on the game. A cool thing to note about this game is that the characters themselves although they look like 3D models but they look like they've been digitized in 2D form but the graphics of the environments themselves are 2D style pixelated graphics and the graphics in the environments are excellent they're very well drawn and they're beautiful to look at.

You have anything from likes of mountainscapes to likes of fields and forests even inside mansions and castles where you have some excellent and quite beautiful graphics to view as you're playing through the game so that on its own is an incentive to give it a try.

Now compared to other 2D style shoot-em-ups it is very simplistic it's not overly difficult playing through this game you will manage to finish it in a very short time frame.

The game itself isn't overly long, there is a number of levels but they're relatively short, you will have a lot of fun with it if you like really unique and quirky yet obscure style games this will definitely be right up your street as it is fun it is quirky it is fast-paced but it has some really really good or excellent 2D style graphics that really suit the whole theme and style of the game and because it's based on a fantasy and mystical setting you can clearly see the reflection of that individual style.

So it's definitely worth trying out even though for most gamers it might come across as being a little bit weird but it is a fun game to play.

Having spent time playing it myself it is very enjoyable but it's very simple to get used to it's not frustrating and it's quite fun for a quick blast if you are into these types of games so I would love to know your thoughts on Kyuin for the PlayStation if you have played it yourself and do you like these 2D side-scrolling shoot em ups for the console or even on other systems?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this game if you knew anything about it from back in the day and if so, do you have any opinions or ideas behind us.
