This is Football PS1 Review

This is Football was released for the PlayStation in 1999 and this was the first game in a long going series that would carry on towards the midpoint of the PlayStation 2's life cycle many years later and would proved to be a very popular franchise in its own right and the game would also be known as World Tour soccer in the North American region. 

This game outside of the iconic heavy hitters of the football genre such as the ISS Pro and the FIFA Series, This is Football would be the next comparable effort that would appeal to fans of the sport as even though there were a multitude of various soccer games released on not just the PlayStation one but the PlayStation 2. 

There were very few franchises that lasted or stood the test of time only FIFA and the Iss Pro now the PES series or E football as it is now called have actually lasted even up until today and have lasted as long as they have. 

The This is Football series managed to keep up the pace until around the midpoint of the PlayStation 2's lifespan when games would no longer be made for the franchise that ended in 2010. 

But the game would receive high acclaim among fans as people were looking for a good alternative to the Iss Pro and FIFA series as there was quite a number of players that weren't fans of FIFA nor where they fans of the ISS pro soccer games so they wanted something that would have been considered as a good alternative. 

And luckily enough that This is Football series managed to provide that element for quite a number of years. 

And it is a decent title for what it represents although it's not as well polished or as well put together as those two main popular franchises in the genre but what it does do it does do really well. 

It has really nice graphics, it is lifelike and plays really well it's good sound effects, really good commentary, it has all the elements of a good soccer game but it just wouldn't have the finesse that at the time ISS and FIFA would have had. 

They just seemed to be a level above everything else that was out there at the time but this game managed to get close to that in all respects to it. 

There would be a sequel that would be released later on with This is Football 2 that will expand upon the ideas seen in this game that would improve many of the various aspects from the visuals and the gameplay aesthetics and so forth that would prove popular with fans. 

And for my own personal experience having played both FIFA and ISS for many years and multitude of other soccer games on the PlayStation, my first experience with this game was on a demo that came along with one of the monthly UK PlayStation magazines. 

Now you could play as only one half of the game but it was a lot of fun, mind you it was tricky to get used to because if you are familiar with FIFA or even the ISS Pro Series they have a very unique way in terms of their control systems and how you can use various aspects of those elements and this game although while good, it wasn't as well fleshed out. 

It definitely took a bit more time to get used to the ideas and the concepts surrounding the game. It just demands a lot more of your attention and overall just time just to get familiar with various concepts seen in the game. 

So even though it is good it would fall short of many of those elements and would still lack in comparison compared to FIFA and ISS Pro but it's still a good game in its own right and I do recommend that you check it out. 

It is one of the better soccer games seen on the PlayStation and it does have a unique fan base that would go on to see light on the PS2.
